It was an era when parachute pants hung in every closet, ski clothes came with shoulder pads, Aqua Net couldn’t produce enough hairspray, and video killed the radio star.
That’s right, we’re talking about the 1980s, a decade celebrated each February during the Totally 80’s Retro Ski Weekend at Beech Mountain.
This year’s third annual retro weekend is Feb. 21-23. The fun includes: live 80’s bands on Friday & Saturday nights, appearances by Carolina Ghostbusters, the Mile-High Moonwalking Contest, our ever-popular Totally Retro Apparel Contest, and 80’s-themed specials on lodging, meals and ski rentals.
So dig out your dayglo ski garb from this righteous decade, wax up the 210s, and enjoy a ski slope time machine weekend.
Saturday night’s headliner at the ski resort is The Breakfast Club, which bills itself as America’s Favorite 80’s Tribute Band!
Thursday evening arrivals can channel their inner 80’s with retro karaoke at Famous Fast Eddie’s. Friday evening includes an all-80’s show by rockers Buick MacKane and the first-ever Mile High Moonwalking Contest, both at the Mile High Tavern.
Make plans now to attend this totally tubular weekend! Full details are available at the Retro 80s page or by calling 800-468-5506.
