Beech Mtn – So-Gnar Snowboard Camp Tour January 23 – January 24

Pro snowboarder Pat Milbery and friends will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the So-Gnar Snowboard Camp tour during the 2015-2016 winter season. Join us, for their first ever stop at Beech Mountain Resort, January 23rd and 24th.

The tour, originally dubbed the Mighty Midwest Snowboard Camp Tour, has now expanded to include stops in Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, New Hampshire, and Washington. Milbery has worked to keep the two-day camps affordable; the two-day camps cost less than a single-day private lesson at most ski areas.

So-Gnar’s camps are open to riders of all ages and ability levels – expect to see little kids ripping on the same rails and jumps as up-and-coming pros, with some parents and even grandparents getting in on the fun – and Milbery says the emphasis is on developing a positive attitude and getting creative with a playground full of terrain park style features built specifically for learning new tricks.

“The whole thing is all about the kids,” says Chris Corning, 16, a So-Gnar Snowboard Camp participant since 2008 who won the FIS World slopestyle contest at the 2015 New Zealand Winter Games in August and will make his Dew Tour debut next week in Breckenridge, Colorado. “They’re really good guys, they’re all great riders, they give out tons of swag, and the kids just love it there. It’s a much different angle from the contest scene, or from other camps that are geared toward that scene, and it’s an important one, because it’s all about creativity and good energy and helping each other out. That whole vibe has meant everything to me.”

Each stop on the 2015-2016 tour features special guests, including a who’s-who of coaches who have participated in the camps over the last decade. Different sponsors – including Arbor Snowboards, Bern Helmets, Boa Technologies, Die Cut Stickers, Dinosaurs Will Die, Lib Tech Snowboards, Poler Stuff, 686 Technical Apparel, and Smokin Snowboards – will present “takeover events” at each stop, bringing along team riders and distributing swag to camp participants.

The two-day camps cost $155 and include lunch. Discounted lift tickets will also be available to participants. To register, click here.
